New Crate Acura Integra Engines for Sale Type R

Honda went from making motorcycles to producing automobiles in the blink of an eyelash. Honda had its business plan set, and nothing could stop the momentum when the first Acura Integra was introduced in showrooms across the United States. New Crate Acura Integra Engines for Sale are less expensive than most people expect, call and find out right now.

The 1986 Integra was built on the Civic platform. The fuel injection system and suspension of the Civic made it into the Integra as well. The 1.6 liter DOHC 4-cylinder, 113 horsepower engine in the Integra was the first indication that this was no ordinary performer; the Integra was an over-performer. Three trim levels were available in the ’86 and ’87 models: the RS, LS, and SE or LS-S, which was only available in the coupe model.

The second generation Integra (1990- 1993) is considered the best years for the car in terms of pioneering the expanding import car scene. The 1.8 liter B18B Integra engine produced 130 horsepower and 121 ft-lbs of torque. That engine set the pace for future engines. Integra engines were a force to reckon with in the sports compact car arena.

The GS-R was introduced in 1992. The GS-R changed the sports compact playing field with a B17A VTEC (Variable valve timing and lift with electronic control) engine, which was only available in the NSX. The B17A DOHC VTEC 4-cylinder produced 160 horsepower and 117 ft-lbs of torque.

The third generation pushed the envelope even more when 1994 RS and LS models entered showrooms with a 1.8 liter, DOHC 142 horsepower with 127 ft-lbs of torque engine. The GS-R model was given the powerful 1.8 liter VTEC, DOHC engine with 170 horsepower and 128 ft-lbs of torque.

Onboard diagnostics (OBD-II) became part of the Integra’s computer system in 1996 and that became an issue for some Integra fans who wanted to program the electronic control module for better performance. The new system didn’t allow for adjustments and that meant buying aftermarket replacements to enhance performance.

The 1997 model year brought the Limited Edition Type R to the American consumer. The Type R uses a more refined version of the GS-R VTEC, DOHC engine. The Type R is able to spit out 195 horsepower and 130 ft-lbs of torque.
